The CGS-SOS will hold the 2022 CGS-SOS Graduate Student Competition on Wednesday, January 25th at Mastro’s Ristorante Italiano.  The competition will include representatives from the following Southern Ontario Universities: Ryerson, Toronto, Waterloo, York, Western and McMaster.  A representative from each University will make an oral presentation of up to 15 minutes which will be followed by a five minute question-and-answer period.

A panel of judges will evaluate the presentations. Cash prizes will be awarded to recognize the best presentations and for participation in the competition.  The best presenter will be awarded $500; the second place presenter will receive $250; and the rest of the speakers will receive $100 for participation, with complimentary gifts from CGS-SOS sponsors, as available.  The presentations will be recorded and the best presenter will represent the Southern Ontario Section in the CGS National competition.

Evaluation for the CGS-SOS Graduate Student Competition will be based on the following criteria: geotechnical content and interest (60%), oral and visual quality of presentation (30%) and performance during the question-and-answer period (10%).
